First things first, here's the summary of my formal education:
California State University, Fullerton
Master's Degree, Business Administration, 2003
California State University, Fullerton
Bachelor's Degree, Business Administration, 2001
California Insurance License
Property and Casualty, Life and Health, 2007. (it is lapsed, however, and no, I do not ever plan on selling insurance again)
Informally, I've spent a lot of time learning about a lot of things. I've mentioned before that I'm a problem solver, and I have a thirst for knowledge. You can probably see how these two things together would put me in a state of constant learning. Here's an example:
I wanted a centralized database for all of my sales proposals. I didn't want to buy a program just for that, but I had never used a database program before. So I took a self paced online program for Microsoft Access, and learned all I could from 6am to 8am during the weekdays. A few weeks later I had designed the program that I needed and all sales proposals were centralized and available to the entire sales staff. I eventually expanded the database to a variety of items used by the whole organization For me, Problem + Thirst for Knowledge = Learning and Problem Solution.
When others are binging their favorite Netflix series, I'm watching videos on astrophysics, trying to learn about dark matter, dark energy, and quantum theory (I'll let you know when I understand it all, because I still don't). After a powerlifting competition, I'm reading articles from as many experts as possible on how to get stronger, hoping to learn one new tip to push my numbers just a little higher next time. Education for me is a life long endeavor. Applicable to both my professional and my personal life. And I never plan to stop learning.
